Summer Camps

Bring some Cedarwood magic into your summer!

Cedarwood’s camps are filled with crafting, storytelling, outdoor adventure, and plenty of time for play as campers explore the season of summer together.

Our early childhood camps are for children aged 3 - first grade. Our grades camps are for children in grades 2-8. Please note that all grade levels are rising (the grade the student will be in during the 2024-25 school year).

Students not currently enrolled at Cedarwood are welcome to register for summer camp, with the exception of three-year-olds who did not attend Cedarwood Waldorf School during the 2023-24 school year.

CEDARWOOD SUMMER CAMP CANCELLATION & REFUND POLICY FOR 2024:
Cedarwood will issue a full refund for a camp canceled by the school. Any cancellation of a camp by Cedarwood will take place at least two weeks in advance of the camp start date. A camp will be canceled if there are fewer than 13 students enrolled.

Camps may also be canceled due to high heat or poor air quality. In case of poor air quality due to wildfires, camps will be closed for the day if air quality is rated 151 or higher (unhealthy) by 6:30 am and there is reason to believe it will remain so for a substantial portion of the day.

Cancellation of more than 3 months prior to the start date of that camp receives a full refund minus a 3% processing fee.

Cancellation 3 months prior to the start date of that camp receives a 50% refund minus the 3% processing fee.

Cancellation 2 months prior to the start date of that camp receives a 25% refund minus the 3% processing fee.

Cancellation 1 month or less prior to the start date of that camp receives NO REFUND.

WAITLIST POLICY:
If a camp reaches capacity, please join the waitlist for the camps you would like to participate in on the registration page.

If space opens up in a camp, all individuals on the waitlist will be notified. Registration is available on a first come first served basis, and we encourage you to sign up as soon as space becomes available.

Camp Dates

June 24 - August 16, 2024

Break Camps

Registration will close 5 days prior to the start of camp to allow staff enough time to prepare.

Grades 1-5

The Coyote Break Camp program is offered to all Cedarwood students in grades 1-5. Students will be exploring Cedarwood and its surrounding area with a daily hike and an eye toward how the landscape, people, and history of the region have come to define our city and our school community.

With this exploration as an inspiration, campers will use the afternoons to create artistic interpretations of their cedarwood experience, using Poetry, Mixed media sculpture, and Music to highlight the community and their place within it.

Examples of field trip outings include walking trips to Marquam Nature Park, the Lair Hill neighborhood, and the South Waterfront. Each of these areas is within walking distance from school.

WHAT TO EXPECT:
Camp begins promptly at 8:30 am in the Performance Space. The day’s hike typically begins first thing in the morning, so late arrival could result in the student missing the group. As the children are off-site throughout the day, early pick-up could require additional coordination with the teacher.

WHAT TO BRING:

  • Hearty lunch; morning & afternoon snack

  • Water bottle

  • Backpack

  • Extra set of clothes

  • Rain gear & boots

Please do not pack any toys, candy, or things that would not ordinarily be brought to school.

Early Childhood

The early childhood Chickadee Break Camps are offered to all early childhood students at Cedarwood, pre-k through kindergarten.

These days are modeled after the daily rhythm of our early childhood program.

Each day lovingly nourishes the child's developing coordination, cooperation and creativity. Your child will enjoy days filled with singing, crafting, story-telling, and plenty of time for indoor and outdoor free play and fun!

Our early childhood camps are taught by our dedicated assistants in one of our beautiful early childhood classrooms.
