Volunteerism

Enrolling your child at Cedarwood Waldorf school involves, to a certain degree, enrolling yourself too. When you become involved at Cedarwood, you become a part of an exceptional community. Faculty, board trustees and parents work together, dedicated to the physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual development of children. We recommend that each family volunteer 20 hours per school year, and we find that families at Cedarwood feel more connected, involved and have a better understanding of our school in general through volunteerism.

Chances to connect with the Cedarwood Waldorf School community are plentiful. We invite all parents to add their unique skills and talents to our thriving community. Please email our volunteer coordinator, Jen Martin, at jenm@cedarwoodschool.org to find out how best to become involved at Cedarwood.

Areas of participation include:

  • Classroom parent on the parent council (two representatives per class)
  • Winter Faire (every parent is required to volunteer at this event)
  • Help host an open house
  • Hallway tidying and beautification
  • Lost and found coordinator
  • Festival celebrations (Michalemas, Martinmas, Winter Spiral, May Day)
  • Auction gala committee
  • Outreach committee
  • Grandparents and Special Friends Day

Festivals are coordinated by the Cedarwood Parent Council. These schoolwide events bring celebration and rhythm to the school year. Our festivals honor the seasons and the passage of time in ways many of us have never before experienced. The generous giving of time, talent and treasure enables our school to provide a rich and varied Waldorf education, maintain minimal tuition increases, offer financial assistance to as many families as we can, and fulfill our mission of preparing young people to meet and fulfill their destinies through a Waldorf education.
