Annual Appeal Cedarwood School sets tuition at a level that makes Cedarwood affordable to as many families possible. Tuition covers only about 85 percent of our operating costs, a typical percentage for a private school. That means we must raise funds through the annual appeal, auction and other events to make up the difference. Our annual appeal is a budgeted source of the school’s income, this year budgeted to raise $35,000, and will help pay for our two largest operating expenses: staff compensation and tuition assistance. We are fortunate to have a very talented and experienced faculty including full time subject teachers in Spanish, Japanese, Handwork and Music. . All gifts to the Annual Appeal are tax deductible. Cedarwood School operates as a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization Tax ID number 91-1828325. Donations may be sent to

Scrip
Scrip is a gift certificate issued by local and national vendors. Vendors sell their gift certificates to us at a discount. We earn money when you purchase these gift certificates at face value to do your everyday shopping. Cedarwood stocks New Seasons, Wild Oats and Fred Meyer scrip in the office. Here's an example of how Cedarwood raises money from New Seasons Scrip: Schools purchase Scrip from New Seasons Market. Scrip is purchased at a 5 percent discount. So for example, if a school brings $950 dollars to exchange, they receive $1,000 dollars in Scrip. This 5 percent goes directly to the schools. Next, the schools sell the scrip at face value to parents, friends, and supporters of their local Scrip program. These people in turn can use the scrip to do their shopping at New Seasons Market, with no change in value to their original dollar. Through this program, schools are raising money to offset constant reductions in their budgets. Parents, family, and friends are able to support their schools through the purchases that they normally make. New Seasons has donated over $400,000 to local schools! If 50 families each spend $100 weekly on groceries and purchase grocery store scrip at full retail, the money Cedarwood School would raise would be $250 a week... $1000 a month... $9000 yearly (based on 9 months). That's just for buying what they normally need to purchase anyway. If you need more information on Scrip, feel free to call the Development Office or e-mail us.
eScrip Scrip is getting easier. Cedarwood is now registered with eScrip. You don't have to buy anything in advance. Here's how it works: eScrip and merchant partners have created a system that rewards customer loyalty by contributing a percentage of purchases to a chosen group (like Cedarwood). Parents, teachers, friends, and families can register their credit, debit and grocery club cards as supporters with the eScrip program. Once your cards are registered, a percentage of all purchases made with those cards at eScrip merchants will be given back to your group. Different merchants give different percentages. Let's look at an example of how Safeway will work with eScrip. Let's say you're a family of 4 and spend $450 per month at Safeway:
* If you spend up to $200. Safeway gives Cedarwood 3% ~ $6.00 * If you spend $200-$300. Safeway gives Cedarwood 4% ~ $4.00 * If you spend over $300. Safeway gives Cedarwood 5% ~ $7.50 Note: Total % is based on each shopping trip.
The nice thing about eScrip is that you don't have to keep remembering to take your scrip card to the shop and also there is no risk of losing it. Plus, eScrip continues even when school is not in session. EScrip is big in California, so we can tap family members and friends there too. So, remember to tell your friends and grandparents and relatives about it! Registration is easy! Register on-line at Escrip.com or pick up a form in the office. If you register on-line, you will need our group I.D number. It is 148993602.
