Winter Faire Parent Volunteer Guide

Overview

Our parent-led annual Winter Faire will be held on Saturday, December 8 from 10 am to 4 pm. The Faire is our largest outreach event and raises money to support our Annual Fund. Cedarwood will be inviting our current families, alumnae families, and hundreds of guests from the greater Portland community into our school to showcase our children’s beautiful work and invite children to imaginatively explore the many magical wintery spaces the parents create together.

A campfire will be warming our courtyard and families will be invited to roast campfire bread. Greeters will be at the doors welcoming our friends as they enter the hallways filled with trees and forest animals. As our guests wander the main floor they are invited to make beeswax candles, get crafty in the woodworking room, and create yarn jump ropes. Upstairs you will find wet felting activities, a uniquely Cedarwood cupcake walk, and the beloved Wishing Stone Wizard. Downstairs will be the wintery white Storytellers' Den, the Crystal Cookie Cave, and a warm and welcoming space to pick a treasure from the pockets of our Pocket Lady and Peddler. In addition to the plentiful activity, our Artisan Marketplace will be bustling with local artisans selling arts and crafts, while food will be for sale in our Strong Foods Cafe in the Performance Space.

Our families and guests will receive free admission to the Artisan Marketplace and Strong Foods Cafe. Arts, crafts, and food will be available for purchase. Wristbands available for unlimited access to the activities; Tickets available for single entry. Wristbands, tickets, and swag will be available for purchase beginning Monday, December 3 in the courtyard and online.

Volunteer Needs

Activity Schedule, Pricing & Transportation

The Cedarwood Waldorf School Winter Faire is Saturday December 8 from 10 am to 4 pm. Activities suggested for children under the age of 7 will be open from 10 am to 1 pm. Activities suggested for children 7 and older will be open from 12 pm to 4 pm. The Artisan Marketplace and our Gingerbread Cafe will be open all day and have handmade items and strong foods available for purchase.

Activity pricing ranges from 1 to 10 tickets and cost $1 per ticket. Morning, afternoon and full day wristbands are available and provide unlimited access to the activities open during those hours.

Important: Yarn jump ropes are not included with a wristband. This activity is open from 12 pm to 4 pm and is 10 tickets.

Transportation

Please consider using public transportation, riding a bike, or taking a Lyft to and from the Faire. Street parking is extremely limited and ideally reserved for our guests. For families who need to drive to the Faire, street parking in the area is free although limited to 2-hours and is enforced by the City of Portland.
