After School Programs

After school programming at Cedarwood is offered to compliment the school day experience while providing age-appropriate activities to nurture our students.

Programming for Grades 1-5 intend to enrich the school day experience. Activities include circus arts, tumbling and movement games, theater arts and cooking class. These programs are provided by Cedarwood and several outside organizations.

The Middle School Program is aimed at developing skills useful for learning in the classroom and becoming leaders in the community. Math Lab and Spanish Lab offer students additional practice in these subjects, time to complete homework, and opportunities for teacher and peer support. A High School Entrance Exam Test Prep course is taught each autumn to help students prepare for SSAT and HSPT exams.

After school activities for middle school students also provide the opportunity to try on a variety of creative skills and hobbies. Middle School Ensemble, Lego Robotics Club, Yoga for Mind and Body, Pastry Chef Training, and seasonal sports supplement the school day in a fun way.

Middle School programs in development include Cedarwood Cares Club (volunteer service and student leadership) and Speech and Debate Club. We are always looking for community members to share their talents with our students. If you have a skill, talent, or knowledge you'd like to share, please contact Emma Maruska, Middle School Support Teacher, by email or (971) 285-4702.

Morning Care

Morning Care Program (4-year-olds and up, 7:30-8:30 a.m.) In the morning care program, students may curl up with a book on cozy lambskins, play a game or engage in other activities in Cedarwood’s school library. Parents are encouraged to send a warm breakfast with their children.

Woodland After-School Programs

Woodland Garden Program (4- to 6-year-olds, 12:30-6 p.m.) Woodland Garden’s regular afternoon schedule includes outside play, rest time, afternoon snack and other activities. The less-structured play of this program complements the form and rhythm of the early childhood morning. Cedarwood is a state-certified child care center.

Woodland Forest Program (first- to fourth-graders, dismissal until 6 p.m.) The grades after-school program provides a safe, wholesome environment with a consistent daily rhythm aimed at nurturing the children’s transition to an extended day of school. The early half of the afternoon (for first-graders) includes imaginative free play outdoors and inside rest time, stories, crafts and a healthy snack. The latter half of the day (for first- to fourth-graders) integrates a mix of board games and crafts with outdoor games, jump rope and free play.
