Michaelmas Festival Monday, September 29th at 11:30am

There is no extended care on this day. Parents should arrive at 11:15 a.m.; the play will begin at 11:30. Early childhood classes will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m., the other grades at 12:45.
In Waldorf schools, Michaelmas is observed as the “festival of courage.” The archangel Michael (who inspires courage) is associated with this festival. Each year, Cedarwood holds an all-grades play in our courtyard, portraying the life of the lowly peasant George who was inspired by Michael to overcome the odds against him and slay the dragon. Please check with your individual grade’s teacher regarding what children will be wearing that day. Following the play, some classes will participate in a harvest gift exchange (check with your child’s teacher), and then we join together for an all-school picnic.
