Marion Van Namen, Cedarwood parent, will lead Sing Cedarwood! a non audition choir for Cedarwood’s parents and friends. Starting February 10, every Tuesday morning, right after drop off, you’ll learn songs from around the world and across the centuries to add joy and harmony to Cedarwood’s events and festivals. All voices are welcome and no experience or note reading is required!
Marion is the artistic director of Sing Portland! a local non audition community choir with 100 singers, that welcomes all voices and brings a world music repertoire. What’s unique about Marion’s approach her conviction that ANYBODY can sing. Moreover, she brings most music through the oral tradition; most songs are taught through call and response, i.e. without sheet music, which brings the songs are alive right away.
