At Cedarwood, we’re excited to extend our love of learning to the wider community through our Homeschool Partnership Program. This series invites homeschool students to join us on campus for hands-on, creative classes led by experienced Cedarwood teachers. Rooted in Waldorf Education, the program offers children a chance to explore the arts, connect with peers, and experience the warmth and rhythm of our school.
This fall, students will dive into Theater & Games with Mr. Zimmerman and Fiber Arts & Wet-Felting with Maestra Silvia. Each week brings opportunities for imagination, collaboration, and skill-building in a supportive and inspiring environment.
Theater & Games with Mr. Zimmerman (9–10 a.m.)
This lively class invites students to play, move, and create together through theater and imaginative games. In the opening sessions, children will build trust and confidence with fun icebreakers and movement activities. From there, the group will choose a theme for their own original story—something playful and inventive—then work together to shape key moments and bring the tale to life. The final weeks are spent in rehearsal, preparing a simple sharing with minimal props and costumes. The series culminates in a joyful performance where students celebrate their creativity and teamwork.
Fiber Arts & Wet-Felting with Maestra Silvia (10–11 a.m.)
In this hands-on class, students will explore the beauty and versatility of wool through a series of engaging projects. Beginning with the basics of wet-felting, children will learn about fibers while creating colorful pieces like geodes and felted soap. They’ll then move on to tapestry-making, blending and layering colors to design their own unique works of art. Later sessions introduce 3-D felting as students craft small bags, and the series concludes with a free-style project of their own design—whether a sculpture, wall hanging, or wearable piece. The class wraps up with a joyful sharing of student creations.
