Ramadan is a festival celebrated by Muslims over a month of prayer, reflection, and community. Ramadan begins with the crescent moon and ends with the crescent moon the following month.

Na’ima B Robert is Scottish on her father’s side and Zulu on her mother’s side. She was born in Leeds, grew up in Zimbabwe and gained a first-class degree from the University of London. She has worked in marketing, the performing arts, and teaching. She is the author of Going to Mecca and Boy vs. Girl for teens, both published by Frances Lincoln.

Shirin Adl was born in Essex and grew up in Iran. She received a first-class BA honours in illustration from Loughborough University and went on to win the Hallmark M&S Talented Designer Award in 1999. Shirin has illustrated Pea Boy and Other Stories from Iran by Elizabeth Laird and Let’s Celebrate by Debjani Chatterjee and Brian d’Arcy, and is the author of I is for Iran, all published by Frances Lincoln.
