Mondays

Marimba (Grades 5-8)

Cost: $100

Enliven our school with the joyful, uplifting and melodic percussive sounds of the marimba this spring! Mr. Hayes and MyLinda King, from Boka Marimba, will be leading this beginning class on a beautiful new set of instruments on loan to our school. Students in grades 5 and up are welcome to join the tribe in carrying the musical traditions from the Shona people of Zimbabwe into the ears and hearts of the Cedarwood community through a performance at the end of the school year!

Parkour for Grades 2-4

Meet in the gym. Students should be prepared for outdoor adventures around the school and Lair Hill Park. Adventures await!

Cost: $160

Parkour is the art of movement and puts emphasis on physical training to efficiently overcome any and all obstacles through risk management, problem solving and body control. Class is structured to give students the fundamental tools to overcome obstacles through creativity and exploration. Students will overcome challenges both mental and physical through various different obstacle courses, games, and exercises. Kids should come to class prepared to have fun both indoors and outdoors, with athletic attire and rubber sole tennis shoes, if possible.

Splinters Basketball (Grades 6-8)

Registration covers school practices and HoopSource league play.

Spring season with the Splinters will highlight skill and team-building. Coach Jake Marr will lead inclusive practices that focus on building cohesive team play and sportsmanship. Boys and girls are welcome to participate. Games will be on Sundays starting April 14 (5 weeks, 2 games each Sunday).

Aerial Silks Class (Grades 5-8) OFF-SITE INSTRUCTION

Cost: $200

The Circus Project is offering 8 weeks of classes specifically for Cedarwood students focusing on static trapeze, aerial fabric, aerial sling and aerial hoop. Classes are designed to provide a solid foundation in aerial technique and artistry while encouraging creative expression. Space is limited. Families must coordinate their own transportation.

Cultural Cooking: Mexico (Grades 5-8)

Cost: $150 (each session)

Spend eight weeks exploring culture through the lens of food! Two 4-week sessions will offer students delicious experiences preparing specialties from the homeland of teacher Silvia Santana, while learning basic kitchen safety and practicing Spanish language. Students will receive instruction, recipes, and shared meals in authentic Mexican cuisine. On the menu for "Family Dinners" is tortillas, enfrijoladas, chilaquiles, and molletes. The "Party Foods" menu will include arroz con leche, atole de, champurrado, pan de elote, and salsa.

MadLax-Oregon Lacrosse (Grades 5-8) OFF-SITE INSTRUCTION

April 12-May 31

1:45-2:45 pm (after Math Lab)

Duniway Park (Meet in Cedarwood courtyard, escorted to Duniway Park where class will be held.)

Embroidery: Basics and Beyond (Grades 5-8)

A stitched picture is worth a thousand words! Artist and educator Idalina Vieira will be teaching students a whole range of embroidery techniques, drawing reference from cultural styles of Hungary, India, Mexico, Japan, Sweden and more! Students will strengthen their artistic skills as they carefully consider mark-making to embellish a picture of their own - either as wearable or wall art!
