In this class, students will hand-build creations of both function and fantasy, while developing dexterity, sense of touch, and strength in hands.

Pinch pots turn into animals, rolled slabs turn into castles, and the longest snake in the world curls into a very special cup!

Some projects will be made using "play clay" to be smashed and recycled for the next week, while other projects will be fired and glazed.

This class will allow children the opportunity to try both styles of felting, along with hand-sewing, to make both functional and toy creations. Ms. Silvia will teach the children how to recycle and transform items they may not use anymore into something new and beautiful -- like a sweater becoming a book bag!

Class size is limited. Registration covers raw materials, but you may be asked to share recyclable items!

(games on Sundays, April 7 - June 9)

Ultimate relies upon a spirit of sportsmanship that places the responsibility for fair play on the players themselves. Competitive play is encouraged, but never at the expense of mutual respect, following the agreed-upon rules, or the basic joy of play.

Coach Raphy Hayes will lead weekly skill-building, conflict resolution, and the spirit-of-the-game lessons that will prepare our middle school boys and girls for Sunday games at Lents Park.

Registration includes ultimate jerseys and league registration.

Friends from outside Cedarwood with some game knowledge are welcome to join!

Are you Game? Developing Strategic Sense through Board & Card Games (Grades 4-6)

April 19 - June 7
(no class on 5/10)

3:30 - 5:00pm

Grade 7 Classroom

Instructor: Mr. Hayes

Cost: $100

Come and join us for an afternoon of fun and games!

The goal in this weekly game-playing club is to learn how to play a variety of board and card games that will help you develop math and strategy skills through games that are sure to please. The variety of games can be played with 2-6 players; some are competitive (winners and losers), and others are cooperative (everyone wins or loses). Some are classic and well-known, though most are new and feature dynamic landscapes and gaming features.

The spring Games Club is open to students currently in grades 4-6. Mr Hayes (grade 5 teacher) will be on hand to facilitate the game-playing, and will furnish games that align with this age group from his extensive game collection.

The weekly format will feature several short games (ice breakers) that can generally be played in 10-30 minutes, followed by the exploration of a variety of games that take 30-90 minutes to play (deep-dive strategy games).

If this sounds interesting to you, please join us!
