Drop-In Programs

Math Lab

Grades 5-8

Middle School Ensemble

Music Room

Bring your passion for playing music to the Middle School Ensemble!

All Ensemble members are expected to practice in preparation for class. Performances will take place at Cedarwood, with the possibility of performing at an off-campus venue.

*This program is included with the cost of tuition, and requires an invitation or conversation with Ms. Bright before joining.

Inspirations Theater Club (Grades 2-8)

Experience theater games and singing while working towards a performance of the original musical Olympus!

Open to participants from five local Waldorf schools, this club includes two weekend sessions and will end with a final grand performance (dates TBD).

Lego Robotics Team (Grades 5-8)

September 10 - December 3

Take your game to the next level by joining this year's Lego Robotics Team!

Open to students in Grades 5-8, this 10-person team will be coached by the clever Mr. Wooton to design, build, and program a robot to compete in a table game; create an innovative solution to a real-world problem in this year's INTO ORBIT challenge; and develop critical thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.

5th Hoops (Grade 5)

September 11 - November 13

Join your classmates in developing basketball (and some volleyball, too!) skills every week at Cedarwood with 5th Hoops!

Students will practice passing, guarding, and shooting, all while building team spirit! This skills class will support both boys and girls of all ability levels in physical fitness, self-confidence, and perseverance.

We'll be working towards building up to a spring league Splinters team!

Kindness Warrior Project: Resilience and Stress Reduction in Middle School (Grades 6-8)

October 9 - December 4

Instructor: Alice Engelstad

Cost: $125

Led by Alice Engelstad, Waldorf Early Childhood educator trained in teen mindfulness self-compassion through UC San Diego, this 8-week class is designed to help middle schoolers develop the self-awareness, emotional resilience, self-compassion, and connection that will support them in leading engaged and meaningful lives.

At at time when teens struggle with anxiety, depression, disconnection, and isolation, mindfulness and self-compassion offer a positive alternative to modern-day coping mechanisms. Through developmentally appropriate activities and meditations, teens will learn specific tools to help support and navigate life with greater ease.


Splinters Hoops (Grades 6-8)

September 12 - November 14

Fall season is a time for skill-building and physical training for the Splinters!

Players will polish their foundational skills on the court, while building team strength in offensive plays and defensive coordination. Sportsmanship and teamwork are important aspects of this program for boys and girls of all skill levels.

Those students who wish to play on our Splinters Winter League team will be tuned up and ready to go in December!

Students who wish to participate in both Splinters Hoops and Test Prep should speak with Ms. Maruska before registering.

Test Prep (Grades 6-8)

September 12 - November 14
(no class 9/19 or 10/31)

4:00-5:00 pm, after Spanish Lab

Grade 7 Classroom

Instructor: Mrs. Harrison

Cost: $125

Mrs. Harrison will lead students through the basics of preparing for high school entrance exams.

Practice taking tests, review all subjects, and support your friends in this pivotal moment of the educational journey.

Best suited for current Grade 7 & 8 students.

Harvest Cooking (Grades 5-8)

September 13 - October 4: Session One, All About Apples - NOW FULL

October 11 - November 1: Session Two, Pumpkin Preparations

1:30 - 3:00 pm, after Math Lab

Community Kitchen

Instructor: Silvia Santana

Cost: $150 for 4 weeks or $275 for all 8 weeks

Cooking with locally-grown fruits and vegetables never tasted so fun!

Silvia Santana teaches students about seasonal cooking, resourceful use of produce, and how to support our local farmers in their good work.

In Session One, students will spend four weeks transforming apples into all manner of delicious things. Session Two will be devoted to four weeks of pumpkin preparations!

Limited to 10 students per session.

*Grade 5 students are welcome to attend Math Lab prior to the start of Harvest Cooking. Mr. Wooton will help them with homework or math games.


Homework Pop-Up (Grades 5-8)

September 14 - November 2
(no class on 9/28 or 10/12)

Cost: $90

Okay, okay, who wants to do homework on a Friday?!

But imagine it like this: we settle in with a bowl of popcorn, one of Ms. Maruska's infamous creative problem-solving games, and tackle the task of homework before the weekend even begins!

Students will track their assignments, receive support with whatever studies challenge them, and build confidence as they learn to ask questions, dig for answers, and complete any assignments before them!
