Health Information

Cedarwood Waldorf School monitors local health care conditions, and will communicate any changes to programming directly with families.

Health & Safety

Cedarwood works diligently in partnership with our local healthcare agencies to monitor and communicate urgent health-related information. We follow all local healthcare guidance as required and support families in making the best choices for their own families.

The choice for a student to wear a face covering lies with each family. Vaccination and face coverings continue to be two strong layers of protection for communicable diseases, and we strongly recommend you consider both for your family. We ask you to consider the vulnerability of your student and those in your family, and the current level of illness in the community in making that decision. We will support any in the community who choose to wear face coverings at any time, both indoors and outdoors.

These are some of the health & safety measures we are asking of families:

  • We ask that students stay home if they display any symptoms of illness. One of our most effective means of preventing transmission of any communicable disease within the school has been our policy of asking students and employees not to attend school when sick. We know this can be challenging for families, and we thank you for your continued support.

  • At Cedarwood, we will support all students, staff, and faculty who choose to wear a face mask.

  • Students are instructed and supervised in proper handwashing and/or use of hand sanitizer on arrival at school, before meals, and after using the bathroom. They are also supported in keeping their work areas clean.

  • We will be supporting self-administered BinaxNow tests for students (parent permission form must be on file in advance of each school year)

  • We also report multiple cases of communicable diseases in the school to the Multnomah County Health Department per state guidelines.

  • In the event of an increased level of illness in a class, students may be requested to mask indoors.

QUICK ACCESS

COVID Testing Consent Form:
Please fill out and submit this form to the Front Office to grant permission for your child to be tested for COVID at Cedarwood - EVERY CHILD MUST HAVE A NEW FORM FOR EACH SCHOOL YEAR.

If your student displays any of the following symptoms of illness, please keep them at home.

Students who test positive for COVID-19 may return to school once they are fever-free for 24 hours (without the use of medicines) and symptoms are improving. Families should consider masking for ten days.

Cedarwood Immunization Rates

As required by the Oregon Health Authority, Cedarwood shares its immunization rates twice a year. In the fall, we share our overall immunization rates from the prior school year. In the spring, we will share the current year's immunization rates after the required exclusion date. The rates are electronically posted here and physically posted in the front office.

For more information on the OHA immunization requirements for schools, please visit their website.  If you have any questions about Cedarwood's approach to meeting these requirements, please see Meghan in the Front Office.
