Yom Kippur: The Story of Jacob & His Blanket Bundle

Yom Kippur is the highest Jewish holiday of the year. The time between Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year) and Yom Kippur is a time of reflection and repentance. On Yom Kippur, the Book of Life is sealed for the next year. Fate is determined. Many Jewish people fast on Yom Kippur and partake in many rituals as an act of repentance from wrongdoings committed in the previous year.

Yom Kippur falls near the Autumnal Equinox. Those who honor Yom Kippur shed layers and practice letting go, just as nature does as she moves into winter. As the Earth prepares for the darkness of winter that will eventually make way for spring, we reflect upon the inner darkness that we wish to transform to become the person we want to be.
