Grades SPRING BREAK Camp 2026
Threads of Story and Color
With: Jess - Atzin (Cedarwood Parent & Waldorf mom of 11 years)
Monday - Friday / March 30 - April 3, 2026
Grades 1 - 5
Camp Time:
8:30am - 3:00pm
In this hands-on art class, students explore the ancient tradition of yarn painting inspired by Indigenous cultures of Latin America, with a special focus on the Huichol (Wixárika) people of Mexico. Using colorful yarn and natural materials, students will learn how stories, symbols, and nature are woven into this ancient art form. This is a no-paint craft - students use glue to attach colorful yarn to various surfaces to create vibrant textured images! Through playful design and pattern, students will blend traditional motifs with their own cultural experiences, creating unique works that honor both ancestral knowledge and individual expression.
Instructor Jessica Lagunas is a talented artist and the Creative Artistic Director of idealpdx.com.
