Winter Spiral: Day Two

The second evening of our Winter Spiral honors the Plant Kingdom, which nourishes us.

You might add something from the Plant Kingdom to your own Winter Spiral at home: flowers, a bough of greenery found outdoors, a beautiful leaf…

The gift of light we thankfully take
But not shall it be alone for our sake
The more we give light
The one to the other
It shines and it spreads and it glows still further
Until every spark by friends set aflame
Until every heart with joy to proclaim
In the depths of our souls a shining sun glows.

This evening we have three Winter Spiral stories to share!

The first, “The Hugging Tree,” is best for younger children in kindergarten - grade 2. Our second story, “Skywoman Falling,” is intended for listeners in grades 3-6. And our third story, “A Sand County Almanac,” is told for our middle school students.

Chiaki Uchiyama has recorded two beautiful songs on the lyre for you to listen to at home — just like we do when walking the Winter Spiral at school!
