July 6 - 10: Week 1 of Comics Camp!
Grades 2 - 8
Camp Time:
8:30am - 3:00pm
Get ready for two weeks of Comics Camp this summer! Chose one week or both! Comics Camp has been a part of many students’ summer for years. It is simple in concept, yet beautiful in practice.
By morning, campers will work in the comics studio, learning new techniques and building characters and stories into a new issue of the long-running “Out of Our Minds!!” compilation. In the afternoon, the group will hike and explore on walking field trips. Observational sketching is part of building our art practice. We always find time for some games and challenges, or to cool off in fountains or the sprinkler on the grass.
Each camper gets a comic gift bag from Books with Pictures, and a copy of the compilation as well as a brand new sketch book to fill all summer.
Jacob Wooton is sometimes called a math teacher, but really he coaches creative problem solving with applied math skills — which he’s done with students in grades 5-8 at Cedarwood for about ten years. He has committed himself to hundreds of hours of Waldorf-specific teacher training in science, math, and child development. When not teaching algebra, he paints, a lot, and makes comic books a little.
